Update Ashley 12/30
Hey guys! Happy almost New Years Eve!!!! Hope break is going well, and that we still have our heads on the prey! Jk... sorry i'm still a little bit medicated up from having my wisdom teeth out last week....
I really hope everyone received my e-mail last week, about possibly using that foundation web site to apply for "scholarships" and more info. including additional companies we need to contact and incentives for them to participate in our project. Did everyone get this , and just never reply??
So, i have contacted about half of my businesses, yet with a response , a yes or a no, in that case .
Curb Records and Parlor Productions will reply via email.
Staples copy center has received the email, a cover letter, and proj. plan, but has to go thru their "mother Company" in order to get back to me.
Keep going though guys. I know it is frustrating, but we must get out name out there... and then call insistantly back for a reply.

Update 12.22 (Caitlin)
I wish that I could say that I have been having more luck getting ahold of people!
- I have left messages for some people after calling a few times and not reaching them. If I dont hear back from them I will call them again.
- Opry Mills' parent company, which is who you have to get in touch with to get anything, had that thing where they dont give you a number, you have to fill out this email form and they will contact you. Hopefully I hear back from them soon.
- I left a message for the person they told me to speak with at Loews Hotel, so hopefully I will hear back from her soon!
Hope everyone is having a good break!

Update 12.21 (Jessica)
I wanted to document everything we have done before now so that we don't forget the early stages.
1. Contacted several Nashville grass-roots community groups to find a plot of land for "Vacant Lot Project"- stumbled upon the Murrell School playground when visiting the Community Garden behind it and "Vacant Lot Project" turned into "Playground Project"
2. Met with Phyllis and Susan (principal) from Murrell School and talked about idea and presented "project plan"- Susan took care of contacting the School Board and getting their permission / committment for development of the space
3. Met with Community Development Office at Vanderbilt about refining the project plan and presenting our ideas to other organizations in the Nashville community for their support
4. Met with Fred Royals of the School Board to talk about the School Board's role and playground equipment options (that would meet ADA requirements, specificially).
5. Continued contact with Murrell School and presented idea at faculty meeting and to student body (and asked for their input and desires for space)
6. Finalized project plan and began asking local organizations for their support.
Personally- so far over break I havn't had much success with local businesses:
Nissan is out and I am waiting to hear back from the Preditors (Sommet Center) and Midtown Community Church. Otherwise I wasn't able to get in touch with anyone interested in helping. I am waiting on Phyllis to get back to me about Caterpillar and Tractor Co.
In the meantime I am still adjusting the Project Plan (as I just heard back from friend, Chuck (in Chattanooga) who is a landscaper and had some good ideas for plants/cost of landscaping renovations. I am also waiting to hear back from Lauren (Vanderbilt) about the ways her office can contribute (her name was given to me from the Community Development Office).
Talk to you all soon.

Welcome to the Playground Project Blog!
Hey all-
So... I have been pointed in this direction - a group blog - so that we can all log the activity we've been doing. Don't feel like you have to post every single time you do something, just a timely update will be fine. For example, you could post like this:
December 31: phone calls to XX company, Y restaurant, etc.
January 2: heard back from XX, need to follow up with Y
Try to check this on a fairly regular basis, but if you need something from the group, EMAIL everyone! That way if something is pressing or there is big news, we can all share it in what is probably a more timely manner.
Feel free to comment on the posts of others, etc, but remember the best way to keep in touch is still email. Think of this more as a journal than a tool of communication.
I think this is fairly easy to use- if anyone has trouble, let me know but it appears that when you sign in that you are able to post quickly and easily.
also: the website address is http://murrellplaygroundproject.blogspot.com
I think this could also be a neat thing to share with people who are interested.
LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD!
